Man killed in Clay County crash

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating a crash that killed a man near Manchester Friday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. on the Hal Rogers Parkway, near mile marker 18.

Police say a car crossed the center line, and hit the rear wheels of a coal truck.

The driver of the car was airlifted to a hospital in London, but police say he later died.

The coroner has identified that driver as 44-year-old Ricky Sumner, of Hazard.

The driver of the coal truck was not hurt.

Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.
