COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Final arguments were scheduled to begin
Monday in the fraud case against three Lexington lawyers in the fen-phen diet drug settlement case.
The defense rested Friday in federal District Court in Covington.
Attorneys Shirley Cunningham Jr., William Gallion and Melbourne
Mills Jr. are being tried on wire fraud conspiracy charges. If convicted, they could be sent to prison for up to 20 years.
The three are accused of keeping $65 million dollars that prosecutors say should have gone to 440 people whose health was
affected by using the now-banned diet drug.
