Gas Savers Getting Stolen

It's a crime that seems to be rising just as fast as gas prices.

Moped thefts are up across the country and right here in Lexington.
Just this past weekend, a handful were stolen from right in front of the owners front doors. One was reported stolen on Kirklevington Drive, another on Elm Tree Lane.

The owners are baffled of how the crooks are getting away with their bikes because they were locked up. They say they were likely loaded onto trucks.

Police say the two-wheel gas saver is an easy target and with more on the streets, thieves are taking advantage of the situation.

Police say the best defense to keep mopeds from being stolen is to keep them in a garage or inside your home.

As someone who has had a motorcycle stolen, I can safely say the local police aren't that interested in helping. If ya lose your bike or moped, just forget about it unless you take it entirely into your own hands.

Make sure you park that gasoline moped next to the natural gas water heater.
