Two men are in the Fayette County jail charged in a costly theft from a Lexington construction site.

Police were called to Liberty Road near Caden Lane after 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say someone spotted two men putting manhole covers and construction signs into a truck.

Police got a description of the truck and found it at the Speedway at New Circle Road and Liberty.

That's where police arrested Daniel Carter and Lanny Green.

They're charged with felony counts of theft because police say the items they stole were worth more than $700.

Police think the two were going to sell the items because they contained metals.

since when did we judge people by the way they look?my husband, lanny green, supports me and 5 children with scrapping.so he doesnt punch into a regular nine to five job, that does not make him a slacker!!people are not getting the whole story, because the news channels dont want to hear both sides of the story.when you talk about people you dont know, your talking about someones husband, brother, uncle, and father.my husband works hard for his money,he doesnt have to steal manhole covers.we should not judge people without knowing the whole story.

Stealing stop signs or manholes shoudl be charges as attemtped murder. After all anyone not noticing one missing could be killed. How do scrap yards accept road signs anyways? Shouldnt signs and manholes be your 1st sign that its state property? You cant just buy those things at lowes ya know.
