Vandals Targeting Lexington Police Officers

Someone is targeting the homes and cruisers of Lexington police officers. Over the last month, three officers living on Hartland Parkway and Bellau Wood Drive have had their cruisers vandalized. Two of them even had their homes hit.

The crooks are spray painting obscenities and some sort of symbol that looks like a hammer and sickle, which could represent Communism. In every instance, they've also left the letters "GSR" which police believe could be an anti-government gang.

Graffiti was left on two officers garage doors along Hartland Parkway. Both were hit twice within a month, each time the tires were flattened on their cruiser and graffiti left on the hood and trunk.

Lexington police say at least a dozen similar incidents have occurred across Lexington over the past few months.

i bet these idiots who are against home fleet would think twice if their family were a victim of a home invasion.i would kill to have a officer and a cruiser as a neighbor.and i am a former police officer.

Use the cars to go back and forth to work, that's fine. But when I see them driving around with their families in the car, dropping the wife off at aerobics class and taking their kid(s) to sports practice, that's where I draw the line.

All you people complaining about your tax dollars paying for the officer's cars and the gas money. You realize that all the officers pay just as much in taxes as any of you. If they did not have home fleet the amount of Officers on the street would go from 150 at any given time to approximately 30 on duty officers. It would only take a little while and everyone would be begging that the officers get their home fleet back. If you think the roads are dangerous now try reducing the amount of Police on the steet by about 120. Good Luck!

I highly doubt that some of you would go into these nasty, dangerous neighborhoods for the paycheck our cops receive. So go back to your wussy little jobs and keep your ignorant comments at the local redneck bar.

before you start talking about the education level of the lexington pd, please realize that most if not all of the officers on the street today are college graduates and have been trained extensively to meet standards. as far as the home fleet, i have to say i'm not sure i agree with that theory, especially now with the gas prices rocketing. driving from work to home is one thing...personal use such as taking the kids to soccer practice or grocery shopping, etc., is pushing it a little in my opinion.

The majority of the people posting here agree with them already.

Chris I would venture to say that 100% of Lexington's officers are more educated than you. They are by far the most educated and well trained officers in KY! Approx 95% of all the officers have a least a Bachelor's degree and quite a few with Master's Degrees. All the commanders and above must have a Ph D. Judging by your grammar and sentence structure I would say you're just shy of your GED. As far as Driving thier cruiser's home, it is a great idea. Just last year 3 of our cities bank robbers were caught by Off-duty officers. Had they not been in their cruisers then they would have gotten away. Your should respect the men and women of Lexington PD that put their lives on line for you everyday and night. No matter what you say about them you can always count of them to be there if you need them.
