Homeowner Shot During Home Invasion

A home invasion took a violent turn early Friday morning when the homeowner was shot.

Police say two men forced their way into the home on East Irvine Street just before 1:00 A.M. with guns. The suspects then told the 23-year-old homeowner to lay on the floor face down. Police say the two took a cell phone and some cash then shot the victim.

The victim was taken to Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond and later transported to UK Hospital where he is recovering from the gun shot wound.

Police say their suspects are two black men in their early 20's, about 5'8" tall and weigh about 150 pounds. Both were wearing black clothes. baseball caps and blue bandannas around their faces.

Just a couple of days ago, a liquor store across the street from the home was robbed. Police say the description of the suspects is very similar and they may be looking for the same men. Right now though, their priority is to find the shooter.

The search for suspects continues.

This area in Richmond is known for heavy drug activity. And the liquor store wasn't across the street from this robbery. Why doesn't the drug task force do a better job in this town? It looks like the crime in this area is getting worse. We are a rapid growing community and they need to get this under control soon or there may be more killings and roberies!! It isn't safe to set on your porch any-more!!

Sounds to me like they are the same 2 guys that robbed the liquor store. At least the descriptions are the same, if I remember correctly. Probably some dope heads with too much time on their hands. If they had a real job to keep them busy, these things wouldn't happen. They are probably on welfare and using our money for their drugs.
