Thieves Target Homes And Construction Sites In Berea

Thieves in Berea are stealing just about anything they can sell for a profit. Thefts of everything from copper, construction supplies and car parts have increased in the past few weeks.

At the Berea Ford Garage, thieves tore apart an air conditioning unit to get the copper. Across town, copper thieves pulled up wires from underground utility poles. And, one of the most costly crimes was at a construction site in a residential neighborhood. There, crooks took thousands of dollars worth of lumber.

Berea Police say thieves are getting desperate in this tough economy and are trying to score a buck, whenever and wherever they can.
