A woman was found dead in a closet at her Powell County home. Now investigators say someone murdered her.

59 year old Cora Robinson Moore lived alone in the home on Snow Creek Road near Clay City.

A neighbor, Greg Ratliff, became alarmed when he noticed all the commotion Friday night.

"I saw a bunch of cops and a lot of activity outside around 10 o'clock. When I saw the coroner pull up and all kinds of state police start roping off the yard, I knew something really bad had happened. The really took their time and didn't get Mrs. Moore out of the house until about 4am Saturday,” Ratliff said.

Cora Moore was a retired Army Warrant Officer who had been planning to move to Lexington soon to be closer to the V.A. Hospital.

Police are still waiting on results of an autopsy. No charges have been filed, but a person of interest has been interviewed.

Whose to say "he" did it or didn't do it. Last time I checked, everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I have known the man charged with this murder nearly all my life, and I find it difficult to believe that he did this, and if he did, he must have been provoked somehow. Since no one on this board was present, and obviously don't know the victim or the person of interest, why don't you keep your opinions to yourself? Stupid ... bunch of hicks.

Does it make it any less horrendous that he was or was not a dopper??? He brutally murdered his aunt who did nothing but try to help him. Let's not forget that a horrific crime has been committed regardless of the murder's background or "drugs of choice".

Mother of 4 and Rick, When did they rename Winchester and G'town Mayberry? There are drugs, crime and bad people in every town, county and state. Winchester and G'town are no better off crime wise than Powell Co. You 2 must be in denial about your surroundings.

I know that Powell County has a bad rap, but there are druggies everywhere - I know there are plenty of people who do drugs in Winchester and Georgetown as well. Not everyone in PoCo is bad.
