Storms bring rain, high wind to Northeast states

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Fast-moving storms have blown through parts of the Northeast, lashing states with heavy rain and high winds and knocking out power.

Utility crews have been working to fix scattered power outages affecting thousands of customers in eastern New York after a line of storms spawned by a cold front on Monday. Winds toppled trees all around Massachusetts.

The National Weather Service has warned of potential flooding along small streams and in poor drainage areas in Pennsylvania.

The severe weather prompted flight delays averaging 45 minutes at Philadelphia International Airport and caused area schools to cancel extra-curricular activities.

A tornado watch was in effect for most of the day in New Jersey.
