State Police Celebrate 60th Anniversary

Tuesday marks a milestone for Kentucky State Police. This is the 60th anniversary of the agency.

The KSP was formed in 1948 by then-Governor Earl Clements.

The FBI and Indiana State Police helped train the first officers. There were originally 147 members.

Today, the agency has 16 posts and nearly one thousand troopers.

Does this mean that the FOP will stop harassing me every week for a donation, despite my repeated requests to stop calling?

The Kentucky State Police has a long history of respect, hard work, and discipline. The hours are long, the job is dangerous and the pay could and should be better, but the fewer than a thousand across the entire state do this job with honor and dignity. They protect and serve us. Thank you, Kentucky State Police.
