Democrat Reggie Thomas wins 13th district Senate seat

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Voters in the 13th State Senate District have selected Democrat Reggie Thomas in a special election.

Thomas won Tuesday's election with 4,040 votes, or 54 percent of the vote.

Independent candidate Richard Moloney was second, with 2,617 votes, or 35 percent of the vote. Republican candidate Michael Johnson received 851 votes, or 11 percent of the vote.

Thomas will replace Kathy Stein, who was appointed to a judgeship.

Election officials say turnout was light throughout the day.
