Some Attractions Still Closed At Somerset Water Park

Two attractions at a Somerset water park are still closed Monday because of a chemical leak Thursday that sent five people to the hospital.

Park officials say muriatic acid somehow leaked into the plunge pool of the tube slide at Somerplash.

Five people complained of breathing problems shortly after but have since checked out OK.

Both the lazy river and the tube slide could be closed for several more days until the equipment is examined by a pool technician.

“The thing that could possibly have happened. There was a vapor lock and once the vapor lock finally moved, it had to go somewhere and it happened to be in one of the pools, where inlets are at,” says Stephen Sims, Somersplash.

The water park is offering a half price admission until the attractions re-open.
