Workers at Georgetown's Toyota plant are breathing a sigh of relief toady.

Toyota announced its making significant changes as it's U.S. Plants, including cutting back production at the San Antonio plant. That plant makes the Tundra truck.

Toyota will halt production of the Tundra, starting on August 8th.

The company is also cutting back production at the nearby Princeton, Indiana plant.

We talked with local officials and they tell 27 NEWSFIRST the Georgetown plant will not be affected by any of these changes.
The plant here makes hybrid Camrys, regular Camrys, Solaras and Avalons.

They'll also be making the crossover, the Venza, in the near future.

Plants that are shutting down across the states, are going to effect every toyota manufacturer. This unfortunatly will and already has effected many peoples jobs. All temps, and most part time people are already let go. It's very unfortunate for the employees who have worked very hard, and what seems like for nothing. Good luck to everyone!

To say this is not effecting our area is a huge mistake on the media. Manpower will be reduced at Toyotas crossdock as well as the carriers that run for them. The plant may be ok but not all the people. WKYT should report facts not cover up for Toyota.

Though it may not directly impact TMMK, it's impacting tier 1, 2 and 3 automotive manufacturing suppliers. The In. & Tx. plants are going to 4 days a week due to the loss of sales on the V6 & V8 products. IT IS DEFINITELY IMPACTING MANY AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIERS IN KY..... Their is concern for our jobs in the future.
