Some Homeowners Are Replacing Real Grass With AstroTurf

High gas prices have caused some lawn care services to charge customers more for maintenance. Some businesses have even been adding a fuel surcharge to the bill to compensate for rising gas prices.

Some homeowners are fed up with the price to maintain their lawn. Instead, they are spending the money to put down a synthetic turf that requires hardly any maintenance at all.

Synthetic turf eliminates water and fertilizer use. However, some "plastic grass" does contain lead and other chemicals and can become unbearably hot in extreme heat.

On average, synthetic turf costs between $8 and $15 dollars per square foot.

This is stupid. Why not go back to the other "gasless" mowers and push the yard. The "wealthy" is the ones that pay 75-150.00 a week to get the yard mowed and may turn to this. Lazy bunch of bums. And don't even say that you don't have time!

Here's an idea. Mow your yard yourself, then all you have to pay for is the gas you use, not someone else's salary or any surcharges. If you have a yard big enough to use a riding mower, it pays for itself the first time you use it.

What the heck?!!!! Why can't these people use other kinds of ground covers? These people need to go research the other grass types available or consider mass plantings of non-grass, low-growing plants. What a waste!!!
