Bike Thefts Soar In Lexington

As gas prices soar to new records, bike thefts are soaring too. Lexington Police say they are getting more reports than ever of stolen bicycles.

"Mine was chained up right here to this pole and when I came out last night, it was gone," said Aaron Anderson, who's bike was stolen from his residence on Sunday.

"I had it locked, they must of used bolt cutters," Anderson said.

Just on Sunday alone, there were over a half a dozen bikes reported stolen in Lexington, most of them in the downtown area.

"I use mine everyday, especially with gas prices where they are," said Anderson.

Police say the problem is, most people fail to report their bikes stolen so if police do recover them, they have no way of knowing who they belong to.

If you've had a bike stolen please consider listing it at - it's a free resource for listing and finding stolen bikes, and it has had some REALLY lucky recoveries over the years.

I bet you can get a good deal at a yard sale on a bike.
