Disabled Kentuckians May Be Eligible For Community-Based Services

As many as 10,000 disabled Kentuckians would be eligible for community-based services in the next six years under a settlement approved by a U.S. District Judge between the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and an organization that advocates for the disabled. The group, Kentucky Protection and Advocacy, sued in 2002, alleging that the state did too little to fund community-based care for people with disabilities.

The settlement calls for $17.5 million to be added to the budget to pay for such services.
