A job fair is designed to bring experienced workers into the coal mining industry.
Jeff Ratliff with Sidney Coal Company says demand in the coal market is up.
He says Sidney Coal along with Martin County Coal are continually expanding and acquiring new properties.
Ratliff says the job fair can get people to invest in the environment and more jobs can help the economy.
“If you're going to raise a family like myself, I'm raising two kids. I got to have good pay, got to have good pay to raise my kids,” Calvin Ballou said.
Ratliff says Kentucky is the nation's fourth largest producer of coal and keeps the state's industry competitive.
That’s why the job fair offers competitive pay and benefits.
