U.S. Residents Celebrate National Ice Cream Day

It's something most of us enjoy on a hot summer day - so much so, this treat gets its own observance.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day.

According to the International Dairy Foods Association, the U.S. alone spends more than 20 billion dollars on ice cream every year, and is enjoyed by 90 percent of Americans.
