High Winds, Possible Tornado, Hit Northern Ky.

UNION, Ky. (AP) - A severe storm knocked out power to about 3,500 homes in northern Kentucky and might have spawned a tornado.

The National Weather Service has not confirmed a tornado, but is expected to send an assessment team to Union in Boone County today.

WLW radio in Cincinnati reported residents of the area seeing airborne funnel clouds Sunday evening, but people in a subdivision in Union said one touched down.

About a dozen homes were damaged. A large wooden play fort was tossed about 30 feet and one woman found some siding from her home a hundred yards away from it.

There was heavy rain across the area and tree branches were blown down by winds clocked to 60 miles per hour.
