Scott County Sheriff's deputies made a quick arrest early Wednesday morning in a violent home invasion.
Police said the suspect shot at the victim, James Smith, in the Ponderosa Trailer Park at the Scott - Fayette County line.
When Sanchez came to the home, he fired a shot into the floor, police said, while the victim was on a couch. Police said the suspect, David Sanchez, accused Smith of stealing his pills. Police say after the confrontation, Sanchez left. When officers arrived, they saw Sanchez going into his home, two doors down from Smith's. When police knocked on the door to arrest Sanchez, officers say he ran out a back door. Police said they found Sanchez hiding in a dumpster on Frisco Drive, near the crime scene.
Neighbors living in the trailer park say they are tired of all the violent crimes there. They also say Smith is often a victim because he is elderly and is on prescription medication.
Two other people and a small child were also inside the home at the time; including Smith's daughter and grand-daughter.
No one was hurt.
Sanchez is charged with burglary, wanton endangerment and fleeing and evading.
