Police are investigating a shooting involving several men at a Lexington apartment complex.

The gunfire erupted just after 6:00 p.m.Tuesday night at the Liberty Heights Apartments on Liberty Road near Appletree Lane.

Police say shots were fired possibly between two groups of men.

One man was hit in the hand.

He drove off in a car with a passenger but was later caught by police.

The passenger got away. Police say he isn't facing charges, but say they would like to know why he ran off.

Police say the victim, 18-year-old Justin Wright, went to Central Baptist Hospital. After his release, he was arrested by police. He faces several charges, including 4th degree assault.

People who live in the complex say they this wasn't the first shooting they've witnessed at the complex.

What else is new, there are shootings everyday in Lexington. Our mayor Newberry has said that police do not need to enforce the law, if encountering a gang situation. Come one come all.
