A Magoffin County accident has claimed the life of a 33-year-old Salyersville man.

Police say Grant Helton, Jr. was killed when a vehicle driven by Matthew Lyon crossed the center line and hit him on Kentucky 460 in Pleasant Hill Tuesday night.

Police say Helton was wearing a seatbelt.

Matthew Lyon was taken to Paul B. Hall Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

from my understanding...the man that lost his life was in the ditch trying to get away from Lyon and when Lyon got out of his auto he asked what happened???? so all of you who believe it was just an accident and no one should have hard feelings...try puttin your husband..brother..son..uncle..in thier shoes and then say you have no hard feelings that it was just an accident

First of all..before pointing any fingers at anyone.. Wait until the investigation is finished. Who knows what happened except for the 2 that was involved. Second of all.. I don't hardly think that Mr. Lyons family is at all to blame for this gentlemans death. My sources tell me that his parents lost a son to a drunk driver some years back. So, I'm sure they can totally identify with the Heltons loss and would certainly not wish that on anyone. It's a terrible situation when there is an automobile accident that occurs and one survives and one doesn't.. I find it very strage that victims families and friends want to blame the survivor and family members for their loss. As far as impairment goes that is yet to be determined.

Kind of hard NOT to know because everyone there (cops, rescue workers, etc.) were talking about how the driver was "doped out of his skull."

I was there, too. I was just passing through, but to witness everything that happened was just heart-wrenching. My prayers are with Grant's family.

The Impaired driver will never do a day in Jail. His family is rich and influential. He was let out of rehab before he completed the program. His family has contributed to the death of this young father and husband

I am shocked..........State Government has told us that the Mandatory Seat Belt Law saves lives.........I must be misinformed.
