Rockcastle Animal Shelter Under Investigation

Following complaints about the Rockcastle Animal Shelter and recent news of two live puppies mistakenly thrown away in plastic bags, Rockcastle County Judge Executive Buzz Carloftis is now launching an investigation..

"We assure we will get to the bottom of it," says Carloftis. "This is inexcusable. We're going to find out what happened."

Last week, 27 Newsfirst were told about an employee of the shelter who found two puppies. The two puppies were said to have been bagged and placed in a freezer with euthanized dogs whose bodies were headed for the incinerator.

Carloftis says he wants to keep an incident like this from happening again.

"We're going to be serious about it, because this can't and won't be tolerated."

Carloftis says the information is expected to be gathered and presented to the magistrates to see how to proceed further with the investigation.

PS--Toneisha...Rockcastle County (in your opinion) is a horrible place to raise a family. It certainly can't be as bad as where you were raised because your parents evidently raised a selfish, pitful, pompous, punk kid. I hope they are proud. The next time you shop at Fayette Mall or Hamburg, please ensure everything you buy is made of plastic, rubber of metal, because if it is manufactured from anything else..a farmer grew it. If I could choose who got to eat products grown by the old dumb farmers, you would certainly starve to death. My sense is that you don't have enough intelligence to grow anything yourself.

First a comment for Diane in Mt. Sterling...Your ignorance is a perfect example of the mentality of many people in the country that are dumping unwanted pets out on the highways. You don't understand? That does not surprise me. For the rest of you that are knocking Rockcastle County....clean up your own back yards before casting stones in ours. I am a farmer in Rockcastle County and I am proud to say that we help supply the food that you and your family eat at each and every meal. Are you so ignorant that you think Kroger or Wal-Mart makes the food you buy? I am no better or worse than anyone else, but I do have an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree from a highly accredited university in Texas. I worked for nearly 20 years in an industry that supplied all of us "dumb farmers" with the tools they needed to help grow the food that feeds your families. I now farm for a living. After reading some of the comments below, I wish I could choose which families got to eat it.

i think its funny that the same person that calls herself toneisha keeps posting comments as other people to try to make her feel good about her comments.

I was raised in Ky for 17 years. I actually got a puppy from the animal shelter there and she was in great shape. While I hope something is done about the abuse thats went on I hope that it doesnt affect the opinions on the rest of the peole living there, because it truly is a great place.

Thank you so much for your kind words about our community. You speak nothing but the truth about the county and the people who are glad it is not like the bigger cities. We do not need a Walmart here , we can drive there if we need to. A small community , to me , if much better than a city. I was raised here, but lived inLExington for over 10 years and had to leave there because of the way my children were being treated at school, and for fear of what they would learn in that city. I agree with you and Shell on all this , we do not need the bigger things a big city has to offer, we have all we need here , and if people want to talk about us and bash our county, it just shows they are unhappy where they are and they do not know what a wonderful life we have here in a small town where everyone knows everyone , and everyone takes care of everyone if needed. Thanks again
