RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Richmond Police have charged a man they say stole three cars.

Jeffery Bond, 31, faces multiple theft charges.

Last week, police say the victim told them she noticed her 2000 Ford Taurus, her 2001 Honda Civic, and her 2003 Honda Accord were missing.

Police say Bond took the cars, then sold them to a recycling company as junk.

Police say all three cars had been damaged, but they were returned to the victim.

Keith Webb with Webb Recycling says when he found out the cars were stolen, he contacted police.

"I don't like anybody to steal from me or anybody else. It's costing me money," Webb said, "it's a chance you take."

In a second case, police say a Lexington man found Bond on Craigslist and hired him to work on his car. Police tell us the man gave Bond his car and $200, but couldn't get in contact with him after that. Richmond Police say everyone should be on alert when using Craigslist.

"If you do have a reputable business you're probably not gonna be advertising on Craigslist that sort of thing. If it sounds like too good of a deal obviously you probably need to investigate a little bit further to make sure it isn't too good of a deal," says Assistant Chief Bob Mott.

Richmond Police are still searching for the Craigslist victim's car.
