FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear says the state is
cooperating with federal investigators probing alleged improprieties in the awarding of highway construction contracts.
FBI agent T. Clay Mason said in an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in London earlier this month that he has been investigating allegations of corruption in the Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet for more than a year. Mason submitted the 12-page affidavit dated Aug. 1 to support his request for warrants to search two eastern Kentucky businesses.
Federal agents seized documents and computers from a utilities
management firm and an accounting firm. They were looking for improper dealings between a road contractor and a former state
