Sentence Handed Down To Man Found Guilty Of Animal Cruelty Charges

The owner of a Great Dane that died after being found nearly starved to death is sentenced for animal cruelty.

Princess weighed only half her recommended weight when she was rescued from a Knox County Home.

She spent months in recovery, but died in June of cancer.

Virgil Whitaker pleaded guilty to second-degree Animal Cruelty Charges and will serve 90 days of home incarceration and 12-months probation.

Whitaker was charged with animal cruelty about a month before Romeo's law took effect, which makes the crime a felony in Kentucky.
