Child Hit & Killed By Car

A three-year old boy is dead after a car driven by his uncle backed over him.

It happened yesterday at a home in Marion County near Lebanon. State police say 28-year-old Jeremy Gootee was backing out of the driveway and didn't see that Landon Gootee had wandered behind the car.

Landon was hit and later died at a hospital. State police say they do not expect any charges to be filed.

I am Landon's great aunt. Landon followed his uncle out to his pickup to kiss him good-bye, but his uncle did not know he was being followed. The pickup was so high he couldn't see Landon. This baby had a wonderful 3 yrs on this earth. Picture fresh air, horses, a very large family of relatives getting together for cookouts, thanksgiving and Christmas. It happened in the blink of an eye. He was ripped from our lives and we know we can never get him back. We know this was accidental and don't hold his uncle responsible at all. In fact we love him even more.

get your facts straight...he did look, seen the boy and took him back to the house, it was after he returned to his car that it happened...he tried...leave him alone...he is going through enough and doesn't need people judging could happen to anyone...

This is a very sad story and my heart goes out to all involved. I could not imagine having to live with something like that and I pray that these folks turn to God in this time of need.

My heart weeps every time I hear or read about things like this. The only peace in this story is my belief that this baby is with Jesus right now. My heart felt prayers are with his family!
