Rembering a Lost Family Member With a Round of Horseshoes

One family is enjoying the long holiday weekend with a few friendly rounds of horseshoes.

For about 40 years the Trout family has held their reunion at Jenny Wiley State Park, and in the last few years they started a new tradition.

Family members say their horseshoes tournament started about 5 years ago and now they play in memory of a loved one they lost to cancer.

"It's called the Earl Williamson Memorial Tournament. Earl's a member of our family that's no longer with us anymore, so we decided to name it in his honor. He was the first winner." says family member George Carter.

The family's trophies are made of coat hangers and tin foil. They say they tried to hand out engraved wooden trophies one year, but everyone asked for the originals.
