Car Crashes Into Gas Line, Forces Evacuation

A late Tuesday night crash in Lexington left some serious damage behind after a car hit a gas line.

Police say the driver of the car that wrecked was drunk then ran away from the vehicle at Rio Dosa Drive and North Locust Hill.

The gas line there leaked, forcing people from one building at Raintree Apartments to evacuate for a few minutes.

Police say some debris from the crash damaged some cars parked nearby, as well.

Police caught up with the driver at a nearby movie theater.

Police identified the driver as William Cox. He's been charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
