Courthouse Escapee Still on the Run

Right now a search is underway for an escapee in Bath County.

Officials tell us the suspect escaped from the Bath County Courthouse at around 3:00 Tuesday afternoon.

Police have identified him as Roy D. Robbins, a fugitive from Ohio.

He was arrested in Bath County, where he has family. Police say he was brought in for writing bad checks.

The escape happened while Robbins was set to be transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

He is believed to be in handcuffs and may have been spotted at a park in Bath County.

Several schools in Bath County were put on lock down as a precaution, but children were allowed to leave at the regularly scheduled end of the school day.

Police have a helicopter up in the air, helping them search for Robbins.

Well it is in no wonder we have a thing like this happening in our county when you lay off a deputy. We are sort staffed and the ballifs in court are to old to handel such events. If you ask me it is time to look into making changes in our county to better serve and protect. Everything needs an update sooner or later. Bath Co is way over due for such a change.

I remember Roy from school here. Even though he was here for a short time, I remembered his outgoing personality, friendliness, contagious smile, and willingness to help all. I would never consider him dangerous and even before reading this, felt that the charges must have stemmed from an underage girlfriend. I can't imagine him harming anyone. I figured he must be trying to get to his wife and child and feared going back to prison so he ran. I understand the frustration with our various systems being short-handed when it comes to probation officers, etc. but it seems like we have plenty of folks on the man hunt making him out to be a monster. Where were they when he needed help in rehabilitating his life and reuniting with his family? I pray for his safety. I don't think the schools have anything to worry about. I don't think he's stupid, I think he's a dad and a husband wanting a chance. Some of these people shouldn't be so quick to judge others without knowing the whole story.

You guys are pathetic, roy never touched a kid. He is a good guy that doesn't deserve this, I hope they don't find him ! He deserves to be free, and if you don't know him or why he is in trouble, keep your mouth shut. He is not dangerous, he just doesn't want to go back to prison. I'm sure you would understand if you had been there before.

It is no ones problem but Roy Robbins he is the one that decided to run from the police and he deserves punishment for that. His family and friends didn't make him decide to run that was his choice so his family should not have to suffer because of his poor judgment. He will not be shot because they will not shoot an unarmed man. He should have thought about the consequences before leaving Ohio he knew he would be breaking the law and some day would have to go back to jail. He is not a pedophile he would not hurt a little kid so parents have nothing to worry about. Everyone needs to pray that this all works out in the safest way for him and his family's sake.

Well, of course, his family and friends are going to take up for him. I don't know him or any of his family, but you people can't tell me there aren't any jobs in Ohio. He may have "done his time", but the fact remains that he broke the law, and should be punished accordingly. We sure don't want any more sex offenders in this state, so I hope he is caught and put away.
