Indicted Jail Officials Off The Job

PARIS, Ky. (AP) - Court documents show a Bourbon County jailer and his chief deputy - indicted following a jail house death - are not working while charges against them are resolved.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that court documents showed Jailer Tony Horn and Chief Deputy Jailer Sandy Dotson agreed to stay out of the Bourbon County Detention Center so they could be cited into court, rather than arrested.

The paper reported Horn and Dotson retain their job titles and continue to get paid.

Horn is accused of destroying e-mails following the death of 28-year-old Daniel Trimble, who was found dead in his cell Feb. 15. An autopsy concluded that Trimble died of "asphyxiation due to hanging."

Horn is charged with tampering with public records and official misconduct.

Dotson faces charges of evidence tampering and official misconduct.

The Herald-Leader reported Horn did not return phone messages and Dotson could not be reached for comment.

He is a nice man but nice people can't run a jail. Bring in the jailer from out west that makes inmates stay in tents and wear pink.

I know this man. He is a good man. He has lived in this community his entire life, and has never had as much as a speeding ticket. There is no just reason for these charges. This stems from a family looking for a payout. As the other poster on here stated - WRONG!!!

I wouldnt hold an elected position for anything. Is everybody a cut throat? People think if they lie on each other it will get them ahead. Wrong
