U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford welcomed the support of Senator Hillary Clinton and says despite being down in the polls, he's confident about taking on Mitch McConnell in November.
Bruce Lunsford supporters came together Saturday morning at the Pike County Airport, anxiously waiting to hear what Senator Hillary Clinton had to say about their candidate.
“Bruce believes that every American deserves a shot at the American dream just like he had. And that's what he will fight for, for you,” says Senator Clinton.
Clinton says the answer is voting democrat across the board.
“And that choice is Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Bruce Lunsford,” says Senator Clinton.
The Democratic businessman says he's ready to take on his opponent, 4-term Republican Senator Mitch McConnell.
“You can't change the direction of the country as long as McConnell is where he is, and the direction of the country's not working well,” says Lunsford
And his supporters agree.
“Our futures and the kids' futures depend on it. Mitch has done nothing for us in the whole 24 years he's been in there,” says Rose Deskins, a Lunsford supporter.
“Well, it's nice to know that somebody's out looking out for our well being. And we definitely look forward to a change to get rid of Republicans because we definitely need it in this area,” says David Stone, another Lunsford Supporter.
“I think the one thing that is very clear with me is that I can't be bought. I don't think people believe that I can be bought. And I think that's the big difference,” says Lunsford.
A difference both Clinton and his supporters hope will get him in office.
There are 45 days to go to the election, and Lunsford says he'll be making many more campaign stops across eastern Kentucky.
