Thousands Line Up To See Black Gold Festival Parade

For many it is the highlight of the Black Gold Festival in Perry County: the parade down Main Street in Hazard.

With bags and buckets in hand, thousands lined up to catch as much candy as possible Saturday at the Black Gold Festival Parade. Many people we talked to say the free candy is the big draw, but others are looking for something else.

“I enjoy the Black Gold because my sister is every once a year in the parade,” says one parade viewer.

“I’m going to get a bag, and I am going to fill it up with candy,” says another viewer.

The Black Gold Festival continues Saturday night and runs through Sunday.
