ATV Crash Kills One In Jackson County

MCKEE, KY -- A Jackson County man was killed late Saturday when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding crashed into a barbed wire fence.

The mishap occured shortly before 11pm on KY 3445, "Soaptown Road" near McKee in Jackson County.

Kentucky State Police said alcohol is a suspected factor in the wreck that killed 43-year old David Ray Gibbs of Oak Grove Church Road in McKee.

Police said Gibbs was driving a Honda ATV when the vehicle dropped off the right side of the road. Gibbs then lost control of the ATV and crashed into the fence.

Gibbs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner within minutes of the mishap, according to a Kentucky State Police accident report.

The incident is being investigating by KSP Trooper Brent Lynch.
