2nd ex-day care worker charged over taped child

LUDLOW, Ky. (AP) - Another former northern Kentucky day care worker has been charged with taping a toddler to a sleeping mat.

Ludlow police say 19-year-old Justina Rogers is charged with first-degree criminal abuse, the same charge faced by 20-year-old Alicia Lyons.

Kenton County District Judge Ann Ruttle referred the case to a grand jury during a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Detective Eric Love said during the hearing that authorities only learned of the allegation after Lyons bragged to co-workers about taping the child, who was about 18 months old, during nap time last October, The Kentucky Enquirer reported.

Both women are out of jail.

State officials say Mustard Seeds Childcare in Ludlow is appealing the state's emergency suspension of the facility. Mustard Seeds facilities in Covington and Florence remain open.
