Lexington Police have arrested a man they say has been breaking into homes across the city.

Police arrested 26-year-old Mario Johnson of Lexington Wednesday.

Police arrested Johnson at a home on Pine Bloom Court in the Alexandria Drive area.

He's the same man wanted for trying to break into a home on Gladman Way Wednesday morning.

A woman who lives in the home says she heard a knock on her front door around 10:30 a.m. but before she could answer it, she says someone broke in the back door.

The woman screamed and the suspect ran off.

Police believe Johnson has burglarized other homes, at least a half a dozen.

Police say they found several thousands of dollars in stolen electronics and other merchandise in the basement of the home where Johnson was staying with his children, mother and grandmother.

Johnson is behind bars in the Fayette County Jail charged with burglary and several counts of receiving stolen property.

He has several previous arrests related to burglary and robbery in the city.

Police are now asking anyone who believes they are missing items from their homes in the Southwest side of Lexington or in the Alexandria Drive area to call them at (859) 258-3600 to claim it.
