Hospital Officials Put Rumors Of Sale To Rest

Pikeville Medical Center officials put rumors of a possible sale to rest Wednesday afternoon and instead, announced an expansion for the facility.

They held a news conference in the hospital atrium.

Among the new additions to the hospital are more than 20 new doctors.

Officials say during a tough time for the nation's economy, the hospital is financially back on track.

The board of directors also voted to buy a Linear Accelerator to provide specialized cancer treatment to patients in eastern Kentucky by early next year.

well we all just found out about a change in insurance that is much worst that previous insurance. Now everybody has to pay 30% instead of 10% and prescriptions can only be gotten at the hospital pharmacy.

I agree with Bob , you take all the discounts away from the employees and don't even give them a raise for the year. When half of them can barley pay for gas to drive to work. But I guess out of that 5 million dollars I think it was you couldn't spend some of that on the employees that actually come to work and takes care of the patinet in the hospital.

How thankful to have PMC. Remember driving long distances for the same care we receive from great Drs.here at home. Employees, how great, you have a job with a good salary, beautiful place to work and a Christmas bonus. In this economy, you are blessed. So your 10% in the cafeteria was cut, go out and buy or bring your lunch. And count your blessings, you have a job close to home.

But we would be so much better off, if this place went bust.going there when your sick or healthy is dangerous.

Rumor has it that could not sell because of being non-profit or at least that is what they claimed when they broke away from Pikeville Methodist Church. If the money problem is resolved why did they take the 10% food credit on food away from the employees? Walter & Pam are making a good living from the hospital.
