A Kentucky lawmaker is dead after a crash on Interstate 65.

State Representative Larry Belcher of the 49th District died in the accident.

Belcher was in his second term representing the Bullitt County area and up for re-election next month.

The crash happened near the Edmonson-Warren County line just after 7pm Monday night.

State police say Belcher's pick-up truck rammed into the back of a semi that was stopped for traffic in a construction zone.
