Fire Destroys Barn At Lexington Horse Farm

A child playing with a lighter is believed responsible for a fire that ripped though a barn late Thursday afternoon at Lane's End Farm's Oak Tree Division.

Fire officials were called to the fire just after four after an employee in a farm huse noticed flames shooting from the barn. The employee called 911, but it was too late.

The owner of Lane's End Farm, Bill Farish, tells 27 NEWSFIRST there were no horses or people in the barn at the time of the fire. Mr. Farish says there was not a lot of equipment in the barn either so the farm's loss is at a minimum. He says he's most relieved that no horses were killed and none of his employees injured in the fire.

The barn, which was a L shaped cinder block building, was burned down to the block.
