A mentally disabled Lexington woman is recovering from injuries police believe may be due to abuse or neglect.

Fifty-eight-year-old Brenda Underwood was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital earlier this week with injuries all over her body, which authorities think may point to abuse or neglect.

The mentally disabled woman lives in a group home off Loudon Ave. Police say that may be where she received the injuries.

As to where the injuries are, and how she got them, police cannot say. But police are saying that they've launched an investigation into Underwood's injuries, and the group home, which is operated by Community Alternatives Of Kentucky (C.A.K.Y.), a branch of ResCare.

27 NEWSFIRST went to the home to ask about Underwood's injuries. We were told by an employee that through hearsay, she was told Underwood fell. Other than that, she would not elaborate any further.

We contacted C.A.K.Y., and have yet to get a response.
