Not Guilty Verdict In Murder Trial

Years after he was arrested for the crime, a man was acquitted of murder on Tuesday afternoon.

Marc Buchanan was accused of gunning down trucker Carl McClung during a robbery at the Scrub-A-Truck wash on Nandino Boulevard in Lexington back in 2003.

Buchanan was arrested in 2005.

The jury took about 14 hours to reach its verdict. Defense attorneys convinced the jury there wasn't enough evidence for a conviction.

Buchanan spoke to 27 NEWSFIRST from the Fayette County Detention Center on Tuesday afternoon. He was released from there, minutes later.

He says he's glad the jury saw the truth.

A co-defendant in the case has already been tried and convicted.

Jeremy Rice, who worked at the truck wash, was convicted of complicity to murder and robbery in September of 2006.

awesome news if he's innocent, terrible if he's actually guilty. If he's innocent, I hope he's somehow compensated for the time rotting away in jail
