Investigators say in a little more than 7 months, two men made off with $139,000 worth of copper. Police say all of the copper was taken from Niles America Wintech in Winchester. But investigators say the mens' greed is what led to their arrests.

"We tracked them down after, an Anderson County Recycling Center reported numerous large copper drop offs over a period of about eight-months,'' said Trooper Ron Turley, with Kentucky State Police.

Trooper Turley says, from February 2008 to September 2008, Lenny Jones of Winchester and Tony Buckler Jr. of Paris stole copper from their now former employer, Niles America Wintech.

"This was a big find," Trooper Turley said.

A new law put in place in July of this year, made it mandatory for Kentucky recycling centers to log all incoming copper as well as other metals.

"And because of the new law we were able to connect the victim
to their employees," said Trooper Turley.

Lenny E. Jones was lodged in the Anderson County Jail. He has been charged with seven counts of Recovering Stolen Property over $300.00.

Tony D. Buckler Jr., was lodged in the Bourbon County Jail. He has been charged with seven counts of Recovering Stolen Property over $300.00.

State Police say their investigation continues and other charges are pending.

A company manager tells NEWSFIRST the men were employed with the company for about 5 years each.
