3-Year-Old Left Alone On Bus

A mother is furious tonight, after she says her three-year-old child was left on a school bus alone.

She says no one noticed her child was still on board when the bus left a Head Start in Flemingsburg Tuesday morning.

It was just after 8:30 a.m. when the bus pulled up at the Fleming County Head Start and unloaded the passengers.

The bus driver claims she walked the aisles to make sure no students were still on board, then took the bus to Cheaps Chevrolet for an oil change.

There, one of the managers happened to walk by the bus, and saw 3-year-old Makayla Shields in it.

Makayla's mother, Jennifer Workman, says the manager took the girl into the building, got her into his truck, and took her back to Head Start. She claims the school didn't inform her the girl was missing until she was found on the bus.

The bus monitor told officials she checked the bus and Makayla wasn't on it. The bus driver said she checked when she got to Cheaps, but no one was on the bus.

Both the bus driver and the bus monitor have been suspended without pay, pending an investigation.

Despite being left on the bus, Makayla is said to be doing ok.

just a personal thought. what if the girl wasn't found and she either stayed on the bus overnight or tried to find help. either way it got pretty cold out the other night she might have froze to death. just a thought.

All kid on these small buses wear seat belt that the monitiors has to fasten. If they pick up the same kids every day and should know who is on the bus and who isn't.These thing that happen to much is why I take my child to school every day!

The bus driver and monitor did not check the bus. If they had the little girl would have been found.

I three year old should be taken care of by it's Mom 100% of the time. If you don't want to take care of them don't have them or put them up for adoption.
