LIHEAP Accepting Applications for Winter Heating Help

Starting November first, Kentuckians can apply for assistance on their heating bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assist Program, known as LIHEAP.

LIHEAP officials say they began receiving calls in August from people concerned about high heating bills this winter.

Rick Baker, LKLP Administrative Assistant for Operations says, "They knew there was going to be an increased need just because of everything going up so much. So it's been really good that we're able to provide the increased assistance this year. It's great to be able to help people that's the biggest thing that we can say."

To find out how you can get LIHEAP assistance, contact your local community action agency or log onto www.communityactionky.org or www.lklp.org.

Applicants must bring the following:
1. Your most recent heating bill or verification from your landlord that the heating expenses are included
in your rent.
2. Social Security Number or Permanent Resident Card Number (Green Card) for everyone living in your
household.
3. Proof of your household's (all members) income for the preceding month.
