Crews Battle Forest Fire

Crews are working overtime to contain a forest fire spanning close to 1,000 acres.

The fire is around the Jetts Creek area near the Breathitt, Owsley county line. Fire officials say they started battling the flames Sunday. It's still early in the investigation, but fire officials believe the fire was intentionally set.

Fire officials say the multiple fires they had in the terrain are suspected to be arson.

The flames are contained, but fire officials say some pockets of fire could still pop up.

Crews are also working to contain a fire burning in the Jenkins Branch area of Estill County. The fire, which was reported Monday night, appears to have been intentionally set according to forestry officials.

It is actually two fires that broke out near-by and merged into a larger fire. It is burning on about 100 acres and is not yet contained.

We're told about thirty firefighters are battling the flames Monday.
