Mother Pleads Not Guilty

A Lexington woman accused of abandoning her newborn baby on a porch said she didn't do it.

Ashlee Stephens pleaded not guilty in court on Friday morning on a charge of abandonment.

Police say the 23-year-old left her day-old baby in a laundry basket in front of a home on Lincoln Avenue. She reportedly didn't know the people who lived there.

Stephens will be back in court next week

I left it on the porch down the road but someone ELSE must have placed it on this porch or.. - A baby??? No way, it was just indigestion! or....- How can I have given birth to a baby; I've never been to the hospital....or - You see, I was driving my friends car when I heard this crying in the back seat so I....... DNA test or psychiatric test...one or the other needs to be done on this woman.

there is no excuse for this.. maybe she couldn't keep the baby and care for it. instead of just leaving it, why didn't she give it to someone that would take care of it?? i think that is what she was trying to do, but she went about it the wrong way,, at least she didn't kill it... she could have been on the news for beating it to death and then everyone would have been saying why didn't she just leave it on a porch to someone that would take care of it.
