One eastern Kentucky Bailiff says he is catching people red-handed with drugs.

Pike County Deputies say more and more people are trying to bring in drugs to the courthouse and jail.

Pike County Chief Bailiff Richard Leathers is fighting the war against drugs, but he never leaves the courthouse door. Instead the drugs come to him.

He and other bailiffs check everyone coming in.

They are looking for weapons, but Leathers says almost daily they catch people with illegal drugs.

He says this is just a sample of what they find every week.

Deputy Keith Meadows says he caught a man trying to smuggle in 60 pills last week.

Other times deputies say the people are intoxicated, and worry they drove under the influence.

Deputies cannot even remember how many they arrested this year, but say it is a lot.

Court officials say the cases are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
