Bailiff Is Catching People Inside The Courthouse With Drugs

One eastern Kentucky Bailiff says he is catching people red-handed with drugs.

Pike County Deputies say more and more people are trying to bring in drugs to the courthouse and jail.

Pike County Chief Bailiff Richard Leathers is fighting the war against drugs, but he never leaves the courthouse door. Instead the drugs come to him.

He and other bailiffs check everyone coming in.

They are looking for weapons, but Leathers says almost daily they catch people with illegal drugs.

He says this is just a sample of what they find every week.

Deputy Keith Meadows says he caught a man trying to smuggle in 60 pills last week.

Other times deputies say the people are intoxicated, and worry they drove under the influence.

Deputies cannot even remember how many they arrested this year, but say it is a lot.

Court officials say the cases are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

You mean only those, who don't have friends in the court house don't you.Because they don't ck. those folks. They just walk on by without challenge.I wonder how many judge's,lawyers and deputys, would be caught if searched. But thats not going to happen. Its just for us low life people.

I must say I am very proud of our Bailiff as well as others. I must also say that people that try to pull that kind of stunt are just stupid.

Just another example of an illegal search and arrest in my opinion. A violation of peoples rights, it is just a matter of time before the police come in our homes and search our medicine cabinets w/o a warrant.

This is sad. I wish the state would build a ten million square foot facility that gives out free pills to house druggies etc. This way they could all congregate in one building and overdose there instead of being on the streets selling and dealing amongst our kids.
