One day after indicted Pineville Mayor Bob Madon resigned, a new mayor is sworn in.

Politically astute and very capable, those are the words that former Pineville Mayor Bob Madon used to describe his successor, Sherwin Rader.

The former city councilwoman was sworn in as the new Mayor of Pineville Tuesday night at city hall.

Rader did not want to talk about Madon's legal troubles, but instead focused on the future.

“I am looking to the future because you know there is a lot of things that we hope to accomplish, you know if we do get a hotel for instance you know that is new jobs, you know a new tax base for the city, that will bring a lot of new development into the city,” Mayor Rader said.

Rader says one of the first things she plans to do as mayor is address the cities sewer situation and try to lure businesses to Pineville.

Rader says Madon offered his help.

Madon insists he resigned due to health reasons and not the federal vote buying indictment.

He's scheduled to go on trial in January.
