Bullet Tests Reveal Two Shooters In Morgan County Murder

Robin Maple was found shot in the same car as his ex-girlfriend. At the time, police said it appeared Maple may have killed her and then tried to kill himself. Now police have another theory.

Robin Maple had been on the run for several weeks. He was in hiding after escaping the Montgomery County Jail.

When he showed up Monday at his ex-girlfriend's house in Morgan County, police say he took Melissa Patrick and ended up killing her.

She was shot several times and found in her car with Maple, who police say was also shot. On Wednesday, police revealed both people were not shot with the same weapon.

While Patrick was killed with a 9mm, which police say they found in the car, police now say Maple was shot with a rifle. And they say Patrick's step-father pulled the trigger.

On Monday, Robert Perkins told 27 NEWSFIRST he was attacked by Maple when Patrick was kidnapped but never admitted to firing a shot.

State Police now say these new findings will be taken to the Morgan County Grand Jury later this month to decide what if any charges should be filed against Perkins.

The grand jury is a legal formality...

All shootings are presented to a Grand Jury for review. You can be assured no Grand Jury in Morgan County will charge this man. Montgomery County might want to look into their jail procedures and operations.

Wow! This step dad needs a medal. I can't believe that they would even think of filing any charges. He only done what any family member would do in the same situation. This happens way too often, women being killed when their husbands get out of jail or prison. I pray for this family.

had he not of shot of at that physco...that baby would probably be dead too...her stepfather was able to escape with that baby which saved his life...it is horrible to think of what that family is going through and now they have to worry if that poor man who mind you got beat up on...will face charges...thats not saying a whole lot for our judicial system

Step-daddy should get a medal for shooting that SOB. I'd have nailed him right between the eyes.

If they press charges on the step father. They should also do the same to the jailer for allowing the killer to be a trustee! And giving thje killer away to do what he did. Shame on the jailer.

this is a sad story all the way around.. the step father should not be charged.. it should be self defense.. i would have shot someone over my family.. the escapee killed this woman, leave her family alone.. i prayer for both families. his family can't be judged for what he done, only him...

I just now saw this for the first time on the news, and found out Missy is gone. How sad for her children that they now have neither their mother nor their father here for them. Missy was a friend of mine when I lived in Montgomery County. Though she wasn't a perfect person, she loved her children, and she had a good heart. She also seemed to attract the wrong kind of people to her. Looks like that became her demise.I'll miss her greatly.I cant copmment on the other parts of this awful news- I dont know the other people, but I hate all of this for Reno's and Missy's children. God Bless them.

Why should he be charged? He did act in self defense. An ESCAPED inmate had someone that they knew he was going to kill. I would have shot the bastxxx to. I don't care if he makes it or not! Good luck to the family and the stepfather
