Parents Sue Schools In Attack On Daughter

county contend they're not liable for injuries to a student during
a fight with another girl.

The Independent of Ashland reported Lawrence County High School
Principal James Boggs, Assistant Principal Debra Delong and the
Lawrence County Board of Education filed their response last week
to a federal lawsuit.

The suit was filed by Jerry and Melissa Moore, the parents of
student Jerica Moore. It claims school officials failed to protect
their daughter.

The lawsuit states anther female student attacked Jerica at the
school on Aug. 12, striking her in the head with a glass candle
holder and punching her.

An attorney for the schools has asked for dismissal of the suit.
